Miami’s 17th-Annual Medical Marijuana Benefit -March 14, 2015

17th Annual Medical Marijuana Benefit Concert

Remember when we marijuana was going to become legal in Florida?  Fear not, American democracy is a revolving door, and the time to hit the polls is coming sooner than you think.

The real freedom fighters of the medical marijuana movement are hitting the pavement and fighting the good fight like it never ended. Because, you know, it hasn’t.

On Saturday, March 14, 2015 Ploppy Palace Productions and NORML of Florida will be hosting the 17th Annual Medical Marijuana Benefit Concert at Grand Central in downtown Miami.

As usual, the benefit raises funds for Florida’s National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), as well as various other organizations supporting the cause, including Patients Out of Time, United for Care, and the Silver Tour. All these groups and more are petitioning Florida’s lawmakers to change our laws right now, but they can’t do it alone.

Of course, just because it’s political doesn’t mean it can’t be a party. The benefit will feature performances from a variety of bands, repping reggae, rock, funk, hip-hop, world beat fusion, and more, because the people who stand to benefit from medical marijuana are as wide and varied as the rhythms we dig. So expect sets from Johnny Dread, Telekinetic Walrus, Sweet Bone, Teri Catlin, and other great performers.

The music will be backed by special dance presentations as well as light spinning, fire juggling, percussion ensembles, activist films, live paintings, and discussions with happy patients whose lives have been made better through the medical wonders of marijuana.

It’s set to be a pretty big party, and when the smoke clears, you can leave knowing you did your part to further a cause that’s healing hearts and bringing hope to people in need.
